We are a locally owned and operated, full-service spa bringing the very latest in non-toxic skincare solutions and body treatment technologies, right to your own backyard. Since our founding in 2021, our boutique spa has gained a reputation as a local destination for unique treatments and therapies that are typically reserved for big-city resorts (and even bigger budgets). We welcome our area neighbors, out-of-towners visiting Rhode Island’s beautiful beaches, teens and young adults learning their skincare for the first time, and busy professionals, parents, and homemakers who need to get away and find some well-deserved solace, peace, and relaxation in a friendly environment. Island Rose Spa - Name
Going through life, you always hear “life is a journey” and I can attest that I believe this statement is true based on my real-life experiences. When contemplating the perfect name for my spa it had to be the right name on so many levels, the possibilities were endless, and they all just didn’t encompass the emotions and depth of my own personal connection to finally opening my own spa which has been a life-long dream. Finally, my thoughts lead me to one of my favorite plants (wild beach roses) and the feelings of calmness and serenity when visiting the ocean and seeing the wind gently moving the strong and sturdy wild roses. Of course, when I immediately called my Mom for the 205th time and asked, “what do you think about Island Rose Spa?” - without hesitation she said, “it’s perfect”. Mom then continued to remind me about how my grandparents met and how my grandfather called my grandmother “His Block Island Rose”.
My grandmother, Julia Mott, was born and raised on Block Island and my grandfather, Tore Rubin was raised on Orland, an island off the southern coast of Sweden. They met in the summer of 1946 on Block Island.While on leave in New York as a Merchant Marine (after traveling the world for ten years during the war) he helped sail a large yacht to Block Island as a favor for a friend and the rest is history. As my grandfather’s journey continued with his Block Island Rose, so my journey with Island Rose Spa looks forward while giving tribute to the past.
We provide a full range of holistic spa treatments and solutions, including services such as osmosis skincare facials, natural peels, custom massage packages, individualized skincare product recommendations, infrared sauna, waxing, eyelash and brow treatments, makeup applications, body treatments like cellulite reduction, vacuotherapy (cupping), advanced body sculpting and much more. We also offer health supplements and cleanses to support your total wellness, inside and out. The name of our spa is an homage to the family of proprietor Meghan Whyte, whose grandparents met on Block Island and whose grandfather affectionately nicknamed his future wife his “Island Rose.” As soon as you walk in our door and find yourself surrounded by murals of local photography of Rhode Island’s famed oceanfront beaches, you will feel like you are a part of that family legacy. At Island Rose Spa, we treat our customers like family. We make you feel welcome, seen, attended to, and oriented to the shared goal that we have with you: improving the health of your skin, naturally, to become its best version of itself.
